Ubisoft has released a free update on "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle" that adds to the competitive features of the very popular Nintendo Switch game. This free local versus mode was available for download starting Friday, Dec. 8.

In this mode, the players can battle each other on the screen using two controllers or a pair of Joy-Cons. It allows the player to pick their three-hero squad of choice and use their designated skills and attacks inside this "small, surprising map," according to Ubisoft's official blog.

The combat mode is still the same with the rest of the game, being a turn-based strategy title. The players are only allowed three actions of any kind per turn, be it an attack, a special technique or a movement. So, winning would depend on careful calculation and use of strategy.

There are beefed-up and balanced characters that are selectable in this mode, apart from the player's own character in the campaign mode. This can be played as quick, enjoyable, and easily-satisfying matches to be enjoyed with another player, in contrast to the game's lengthy leveling campaign, as the players are allowed to limit the number of turns in the matches, and the time limit on each turn.

"Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle" is a turn-based tactical role-playing game published and developed by Ubisoft for the video game console, Nintendo Switch, and was released last August. The game is a crossover between Ubisoft's Raving Rabbids franchise and Nintendo's ever famous Mario.

Consisting of default single-player and multi-player modes, the new update is a generally sweet addition to the tactical role-playing gameplay elements of the game. It has garnered good user reviews online and has earned a "generally favorable" score of 85, and a user score of 8.7/10 in video game critic site, Metacritic.
