After two years of absence from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) is making a huge comeback this fall as a significant character in "Thor: Ragnarok."

Following Disney's acquisition of Marvel Studios, it has been impossible for the iconic green giant and his alter ego Bruce Banner to have a solo movie. Because Universal Pictures owns the rights to The Hulk, he could only appear in movies where he is not the titular character.

However, it seems like Marvel Studios found an impressive workaround.

In an interview with Cinemablend, actor Ruffalo announced a special trilogy for The Hulk, which would kick off in the third installment of "Thor," to be followed by "The Avengers: Infinity War" and will culminate in the still untitled fourth "Avengers" movie. That's two years worth of The Hulk overdose.

Ruffalo said Marvel Studios Kevin Feige pulled him aside one day and asked him for ideas for a standalone Hulk movie. To this he answered, "I think it should be this, this, this, and this and this, and ends up like this.' And he's like, 'I love that. Why don't we do that in the next three movies." 

The actor added that fans will see a notable development in the character across the three films, particularly in the way he speaks. He said this would help fans understand the Bruce Banner/The Hulk split personality on a deeper level and hinted at more possibilities for the green giant. "He's like a five year old or six year old. So he has the same syntax, he has the same world view, and so it was fun," he said.

Luckily, fans would not have to wait long to find out what happened to the baby-like monster they missed so much. "Thor: Ragnarok" is coming to the big screen on Nov. 3, while "Avengers: Infinity War" is set to be released in May 2018.
