While "Married at First Sight" has not yet been officially renewed for a third season in the U.S., its spin-off "Married at First Sight: First Year" has been renewed and will have a second season which kicks off next month. According to the report from When-Will.net, season 2 will be composed of seven 1-hour episodes. 

The season will primarily follow the lives of two couples: Doug Hehner with Jamie Otis and Jason Carrion with Cortney Hendrix. Fans of the original series will instantly be familiar with them as they are two of the three couples that met and wedded in the first season of "Married at First Sight." The other couple, Monet and Vaughn, divorced. 

"Initially Doug & I were a bit hesitant for another show - but we were at a point in our relationship where we really NEEDED help," reads Jamie Otis' comment on Facebook to the official trailer. This is with regard to showcasing their relationship following their marriage back in the flagship series' first season. 

"We went through (and are still going through) lot of hard stuff and didn't know where to turn. I'm a bit dreading watching it back and re-living it all just because it's been so tough," she explained. 

According to the IBTimes, revisiting the lives of these two couples is fine with the fans as they are the only couples that remain interesting. After all, they are the only couples to stick together after two seasons. None of the three couples from the second season of the flagship series is present since all three couples separated. Davina Kullar and Sean Varricchio divorced before the series ended and the other two couples divorced afterward, as shown in the "6 Months Later" special.  

With the flagship series still not gaining a third season, it is likely that no new couple will be added to the spin-off.

"Married at First Sight: First Year" season 2 premieres this Oct. 13.
