'Married at First Sight' season 3 update: Show may be cancelled due to high divorce rates

Married at First Sight season 2 cast FYI

Speculations of "Married at First Sight" season 3 getting cancelled have been floating across the Internet for some time, but a recent report from Realty Today indicates that the chances of renewal are getting even slimmer due to season 2's high divorce rate.

While season 1 ended on a pretty high note, with the couples reportedly carrying on their new relationships happily — as far as the media has shown — but season 2's couples did not fare so well as all of them got a divorce.

One of the couples, Ryan de Nino and Jessica Castro, went through a disasterous breakup. Jessica has since filed a restraining order after Ryan allegedly threatened to harm her and her family. Ryan has denied these allegations and has even taken a photo of the restraining order which he shared via Instagram

The issues aren't just limited to the U.S. version of the show. Recently, the spotlight on the U.K.'s version has been directed toward Kate Stewart and Jason Knowles. The couple split after just two weeks together and much of the drama began when Kate discovered Jason's account on the dating app Tinder.

A bigger indication that the FYI network might throw the show out the window is that the casting call for season 3 has been taken down from the show's official website. If the show intends on returning for season 3, then they should already be looking for new cast members.

Of course, there is always the possibility that FYI has already found the people they intend to bring together on a blind date/ sudden marriage which could explain the missing casting call, but given how the show has garnered a lot of negative response from viewers, it is more likely the show is getting canned.

Despite controversies of the FYI series, its Australian counterpart is doing quite well with the Nine Network officially renewing the Australian version for a second season.
