Since the season 2 finale of "Married at First Sight," there has been no word if the series has been renewed for another season on FYI. While the show's concept was certainly revolutionary, many were not quite ready about the show's premise, which sees complete strangers marrying each other upon meeting for the very first time.

However, the premiere of season 2 of the show's spinoff, "Married at First Sight: The First Year," will air today, Oct. 13. The show is expected to replace season 3 of the original series. The spinoff will have seven episodes and will document the lives of two couples from season one-- Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis, and Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix.

Both couples exchanged vows in March 2014, and while season one followed their lives as newlyweds, the spinoff will see them through the second year of their marriage.

According to Broadwayworld.com, "The First Year" will follow the couple as they navigate through the daily challenges of married life, which include renovating a new home, talking about starting a family, and reconnecting with a long-lost relative.

Carrion's childhood friend, Neph Rodriguez, will also be featured on the show as he shares his insight on dating again after going through a divorce. The show's inhouse sociologist, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, will be around once more to check in on the couples and offer advice and guidance during the second year of their marriage.

Days before the spinoff's season 2 premiere, the four shared their advice on making a marriage work, and for Carrion, it's all about staying connected to his spouse.

"Sending a text message, anything from 'Thinking about you,' to 'I miss you,' is something I do to stay connected daily," he said.

For Otis, it's about showing her husband that she cares for him by taking the time to make his morning coffee before he leaves for work.

"I just wake up every morning and make Doug coffee before work," she said. "He loves that I get up early to just to make it for him."

"Married at First Sight: The First Year" season 2 premieres today, Oct. 13, at 9/8c on FYI.
