Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK Day) is upon us, and people may want to take note of which important establishments and offices will be either closed or open during this important holiday. Just like in the past, most stores will be open for people to enjoy, but major banks may be closed depending on the area in question. 

Given that MLK Day is a federal holiday, most government employees will be enjoying the holiday with the rest of the population. This means that most banks will be closed on Monday, but there are some that will be opening their doors to people either for a limited time, or on specific hours only. Major banks, such as the Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citibank, will not be offering their services on MLK Day. 

Some of the banks that will be open include the Huntington Bank, which will be open for a short period of time inside most Giant Eagle and Meijer establishments. Some PNC branches that are situated in retail stores will be open, depending on the location of the branch, and Fifth Third Bank could also be open. USAA Bank may be open in select branches as well, and the U.S. Bank could possibly offer limited service hours depending on the branch. 

It is advisable for people to call their local bank to double-check if any transaction can be made on Monday just to be sure. 

It can be expected that all major shopping malls, stores, pharmacies, and grocery stores will still be open for the MLK Day, but the U.S. Postal Service office will be taking a break. People should not be expecting any of their regular mail to arrive on Monday, but will still be delivering Priority Mail Express. Additionally, services, such as UPS and FedEx, will still be working on MLK Day, which means that those who expect any items on that day should be wary of this.
