Marvel's 'Agent Carter' premiere date set for Jan. 6 on ABC

Another incredible female character will be featured on the small screen, and it will be on ABC and Marvel's new series,"Agent Carter." Actress Hayley Atwell reprises her role as Peggy Carter, but this time, she is a spy disguising as an office worker.

Describing her character, Atwell said, "She has an intelligence about her and a skill set that's very impressive, yet we get to see the emotional and psychological cost of her character. [She's] someone who's having to live a double life."

Marvel fans will remember Peggy Carter as the tough-as-nails love interest of Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America.  The series is set during the World World II era, following the events in "Captain America: The First Avenger" when the superhero's plane crashed and is presumed dead. Carter is now working as a secret agent hero who feels that she is being discriminated at work, particularly by her heartless boss Roger Dooley, played by Shea Whigham, who thinks that women are only meant to work as secretaries. Unknown to many, Peggy worked with Captain America and even had a romantic relationship with him.

Other characters in the upcoming show include Peggy's arrogant co-worker Thompson, played by "One Tree Hill" star Chad Michael Murray, who often calls her "kid," as well as Daniel Sousa, played by Enver Gjokaj, who often sides with her even if it annoys her.

"I'm more than capable of handling whatever these adolescents throw at me," Peggy often tells Sousa. And she refuses to stay working on files in the office, since she is more than capable of doing that.

Sousa is believed to be Peggy's love interest in the show, since Captain America/Steve Rogers is already missing.

Viewers will also see Iron Man/Tony Stark's fugitive father Howard Stark, played by guest star Dominic Cooper. Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis, played by James D'Arcy, is also included in the show.

Marvel's "Agent Carter" is set to premiere with a two-hour episode on Jan. 6 on ABC.
