'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 3 news: Statuesque villain Lash to appear next season

The horrific Inhuman character named Lash will join "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3.Marvel

Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) already has a lot of problems to deal with in "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3, but a "bigger" problem is set to arrive soon.

ABC recently revealed several important details regarding the third season of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." through an extended synopsis. One of the information that was discussed is the introduction of another villain called Lash who will go against the agency, and he will be one "monstrous" feat.

Series executive producer Jeff Bell discussed the character in an interview with TV Line. According to Bell, Lash is an Inhuman who "has a fairly strong opinion about what should happen to Inhumans." The series exec also revealed that it will be hard to learn his real intentions for fighting against the agents because he is a wild card.

"You don't know why he is doing this — Does he have an agenda? Is he on somebody's side? So we'll be teasing that out over some episodes," he said.

Lash will be portrayed by the statuesque actor Matthew Willig. At 6 feet 8 inches tall, the former NFL offensive tackle is deemed perfect for the role of the towering villain.

The new "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." villain is known in the comic books as an Inhuman with horrifying features. To achieve the same look on TV, Bell said that they worked with "The Hunger Games" special make-up effects artist Glenn Hetrick. He and his team also worked on the prosthetics used on Raina (Ruth Negga) when she transformed in season 2.

"They've been working with our makeup effects and visual effects people to come up with something that's pretty cool!" Bell stated.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is scheduled to return to ABC starting Sept. 29.
