'Agents of SHIELD' season 2 update: Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye to visit SHIELD?

From Jeremy Renner's Twitter account, saying: Tues morn. I find myself in costume again. I just can't tell you why. And it still fits! #marvel #avengers #hawkeye http://www.whosay.com/l/dRk9XHVTwitter

Will fans see a Hollywood A-Lister in the hit action-adventure superhero TV series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." when the show returns after its winter break?

Rumors are rife about the possible appearance of blockbuster actor Jeremy Renner in the TV adaptation of Marvel's popular S.H.I.E.L.D. comic series. ComicBook.com first came up with the story in their website, after the actor seemingly teased fans about what is in store for his character Hawkeye in his Whosay account.

In a photo posted by Renner, the actor is seen donning his complete Hawkeye get-up without saying why he is wearing it in the first place. This led to speculations that the character will be heading to the small screen after his appearance in the soon-to-be-released "Avengers 2" movie.

Although there are reports saying that Marvel Cinematic Universe director Joss Whedon ordered to re-shoot some of the sequences featured in the sequel of the "Avengers" movie to give it more action-packed scenes, fans would still like to think that the reason for Renner's return in the Hawkeye costume is because of the TV series. This possibility is hard to dismiss, given the fact that Hawkeye's alter-ego Clint Barton is connected with S.H.I.E.L.D. because of his relationship with Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) in the comic books.

However, no confirmation about this rumor has been released by the actor, Marvel, or even ABC.

Aside from Renner's character, there are also speculations saying that other "Avengers" characters will be visiting the S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters soon. One of them is Tony Stark, played by Robert Downy Jr., who is rumored to be in appearing in the TV adaptation of the comic series without his signature Iron Man suit. Some reports are also saying that Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow will visit the set of the ABC TV series, as well as former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, portrayed by Emily Van Camp.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 2 returns on March 3.
