Mary Potter Trust Foundation Launches in Sydney, Australia for Christ

The Mary Potter Trust Foundation has been launched in Sydney, Australia on Thursday 16 June 2005. This private foundation was established by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary in Australia in order to provide assistance for contemporary society.

The Foundation was originally established in 2003 and already has nine funded projects across different states in Australia. It provides grants to community groups that actively work towards addressing the social justice needs of the disadvantaged and promotes human rights.

Sister Jennifer Barrow, Province Leader of the Little Company of Mary said, "That the spirit of Venerable Mary Potter lives through each century, giving witness to her initial vision and the mission of the Congregation which she founded. In 1885 the Little Company of Mary sisters came to Australia to bring Christ's healing presence to those in need through ministering to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs."

"We find ourselves still drawn to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people, especially those on the margins of society. This Foundation will allow us to extend our reach to more and more people in need. Today we have high quality, values-based health and aged care services and facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Hobart, Cessnock and Wagga Wagga."

Mr Neville Moses, Chairman of the Mary Potter Trust Foundation said, "Some of these include a part time indigenous support worker for a girl home in regional Queensland, a Muslim community project worker in South Australia, financial support for respite carer in New South Wales and opportunities for homeless people in metropolitan Victoria."
