In an exclusive from Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming November 2018 movie "Mary, Queen of Scots" released a couple of never-before-seen photos.

The first photo showed "The Suicide Squad" star Margot Robbie as Queen Elizabeth 1, looking especially regal in a 16th-century outfit with two servants helping her dress. Another photo showed Saoirse Roan as Mary, Queen of Scots, riding a horse with what appears to be her cavalry in tow.

The film will be loosely-based from the biography titled "My Heart Is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots" by John Guy. In the film, the rivalry between two of the most powerful women in history will be highlighted.

Mary Stuart was a recent widow and former Queen of France. She then rose to be the Queen of Scots. The film explores the apparent threat Mary Stuart poses to the kingdom of Queen Elizabeth I, and although history dictates that Queen Elizabeth I won their rivalry, the film will apparently take Mary's side.

According to director Josie Rourke, however, "They were both, in their own ways, making huge sacrifices to try to operate in this male-dominated world. It's not one against the other. It's both of them against a particular environment that pitted them against each other."

In real life, Queen Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots are relatives, which is also going to be portrayed in the film. Queen Elizabeth I is the last living heir of House Tudor in the movie, and Mary Stuart is Elizabeth's first cousin once-removed.

Apparently, the rivalry between the two is more of a collection of backstabbing and scheming by both side's multiple factions and counselors.

"Mary, Queen of Scots" is directed by theatre director Josie Rourke and written by "House of Cards" creator Beau Willimon. The film will be officially released on Nov. 2, 2018.
