'Mass Effect 4' news: No major updates expected

Bioware

Fans have been waiting for any bit of news regarding the next "Mass Effect" game and with N7 Day coming up, fans are getting excited to say the least.

Unfortunately, it appears that fans who may be looking for "Mass Effect 4" news on that day will be sorely disappointed.

According to the Express UK, game developer BioWare has already told fans that they should not expect anything in the form of updates related to "Mass Effect 4," also known as "Mass Effect Andromeda."

In the place of news related to "Mass Effect 4," fans can expect livestream events and giveaways that will be handed out during N7 Day, which is the annual celebration of the "Mass Effect" franchise organized by BioWare. All of the livestream events and the giveaways are also expected to be related to the original "Mass Effect" trilogy and nothing connected to the upcoming game.

To be fair, BioWare did also announce that they have some surprises related to "Mass Effect 4" lined up, although it's unclear what these could be.

All that's assured is that fans who are possibly hoping to learn more about the story, characters, and even the gameplay mechanics of "Mass Effect 4" on N7 Day may have to recalibrate their expectations.

Instead, N7 Day may end up being used as a springboard for another BioWare event that may be the one that will be featuring actual updates regarding "Mass Effect 4."

What is also known about "Mass Effect 4" is that it will no longer be featuring the iconic Commander Shepard.

Recently, BioWare senior development director Chris Wynn found himself defending the upcoming game from criticisms that it would suffer from a lack of Shepard, Gamespot reported.

In response, Wynn said that fans need to be "open-minded" to a "Mass Effect" game without the familiar Shepard. He continued by saying that "Mass Effect 4" can still be a great game even without the presence of the commander.
