'Mass Effect 4' release date, updates: 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' out in 2016

Mass Effect 4, introduced as Mass Effect Andromeda, has recently been unveiled in E3 2015. The game did not disappoint.

Electronic Arts dropped the curtains and opened its game roster exhibition with an in-engine teaser for Mass Effect: Andromeda during the Electronic Entertainment Expo held last June 16 to 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

EA's video presentation for Andromeda showcased several in-game locations, gameplay and characters together with aliens. The game developer astounded the eager Mass Effect fan base when it showcased the game's fourth installment three years after Mass Effect 3's release.

Bioware, game developer for Mass Effect and a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, indicated that the story would focus on a fresh protagonist who won't be another Commander Shepard version. "But while there will be no direct continuation of the Commander's story, nods to past adventures will be included," according to Eurogamer.

Eurogamer also noted that a leak from EA about the new game installment suggested the introduction of two more races: the Khet, an arrogant and hostile skeletal race with glowing eyes, and the Remnants, an ancient race depicted by golem-like creatures.

After the game's unveiling at E3, Bioware released a blogpost regarding the teaser trailer and the game itself. The game developer also confirmed that users would have to play a human character and set out on adventures within the new galaxy. "You will play a human, male or female, though that's actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later). You'll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw," Bioware specified in the blogpost.

Bioware promised updates for the game near the end of the year. Mass Effect: Andromeda will be out during the 2016 holiday season and will be released for PC and consoles.
