Developer BioWare is prepping up for the release of their upcoming action-role-playing third-person shooter game, "Mass Effect: Andromeda." The game is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2017. It is now rumored that the game will be using a new animation engine that will produce smoother movements for its characters.

According to a NeGAF user named shinobi602, the upcoming game uses a new animation system that was built from scratch. This is in response to the criticism that the game's animation was receiving. The user also associated the system to another one of game developer Ubisoft's offerings titled "For Honor."

The user said: "It's ironic that many are mocking the animations in the game when it's all entirely from the ground up. All new animations. They're using a brand new locomotion system in the game similar to the things Ubisoft is trying to push with For Honor. It's the body locomotion with locked feet and natural gesturing system."

Shinobi602 also added, "You can see it in the way Ryder walks and transitions into different speeds and turns. Animations look much better than any previous BioWare game."

The new animation engine, combined with the latest motion-capture technology, is expected to produce smoother movements for the game's characters. Gamers can expect that the characters' movements will be close enough to a human's actions, such as the sudden shift between running and walking (and vice-versa), tilting and twisting of the head when conversing, and several others. As the gamers pointed out in the discussion, "Uncharted 4," "The Witcher 3," and other games also experienced animation issues before.

However, several participants in the discussion also pointed out that gamers have learned to ignore it and accept it the way it is. This has not been an issue before, and it will not be a big issue in the future.

Meanwhile, GameSpresso previously reported that Mac Walters, BioWare's creative director, revealed that the male character and the female character are siblings, and they will exist in the game world at the same time. Additionally, the character in an N7 armor, first seen in the original announcement trailer, is the father of the two characters.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is expected to hit the shelves by the first quarter of 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
