The top four home cooks will have to deal with the expert palate of the judges in the upcoming episode of Fox's hit reality show "MasterChef."

In "Think Inside the Box," TV Guide reports that Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Christina Tosi are the ones who will choose the key ingredients for the next challenges. The remaining contestants will have to create their finest dishes out of these components or else miss the once in a lifetime chance of becoming the best home cook in America.

With the finale so near, the judges will be doubly difficult to please at this point. For the mystery box challenge, contestants will have to prepare an appetizer and an entrée that Ramsay and Elliot have chosen for them. But there are two catches — they have to work in pairs and create their dishes twice more.

The winners of this task will have a huge advantage, going straight to the top three. The losing pair, however, will have to compete side by side in the pressure test, where they will face Tosi's challenge. They have to create a chocolate-malted layer cake.

According to Cartermatt, the four remaining home cooks this season are neck and neck in the competition. Anyone can take the coveted "MasterChef" trophy. Based on the promo released by Fox, the tandems for the week's challenge are Derrick Peltz/Stephen Lee and Claudia Sandoval/Nick Nappi.

The pairing is said to be interesting, as the first is extremely passionate and the other low-key. Will the viewers see personality clashes between Peltz and Lee? Perhaps Sandoval and Nappi not being as chatty as the other cooks will be their saving grace. But will they be able to really connect?

The website still feels that Nappi is the weakest link in the competition, but who knows. A single mistake at this point is pretty catastrophic, just like what happened to Katrina Kozar last episode. She had the misfortune of serving the judges raw veal scallopini. Even if her accompanying tagliatelle dish was wonderful, she did not make the cut and was sent home.

"MasterChef" season 6 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
