'Masters of Sex' season 3 cast update: Character Jane Martin returns

One of the well-loved characters from the first season of "Masters of Sex" will return for season 3.

Heléne Yorke, the actress who portrays the role of Jane Martin, Virginia Johnson's (Lizzy Caplan) colleague and friend, is set to return for the next run of Showtime's popular period drama. The show is loosely based on the "Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love" biography written by Thomas Maier.

Jane is one of the hospital secretaries who agreed with Virginia's proposition to join the ongoing sex study conducted by Dr. William "Bill" Masters (Michael Sheen), but she later on fell in love with Lester (Kevin Christy), the assigned videographer for the study. Jane and Lester's romance was widely featured in the show's first season, but it was cut short after Yorke failed to commit for the second season because of her appearance in the show "Bullets Over Broadway."

Meanwhile, "Masters of Sex" also found the actress who will portray the role of Virginia's daughter Tessa. Deadline announced that, due to the big time jump from 1961 to 1966, "The Hunger Games" star Isabelle Fuhrman will take over the role of Tessa from Kayla Madison, who portrayed the younger Tessa during the first two seasons of the show .

The third season of "Masters of Sex" will focus on the Bill and Virginia's sudden prominence after their sexual revolution study became public in season 2. It will also highlight the odd three-way relationship between Bill, Virginia, and Libby (Caitlin Fitzgerald).

Other new cast members for the third season of "Masters of Sex" include Jaeden Lieberher as Bill's son, as well as Maggie Grace as Dr. Christine Welsh, who will portray a big role in Bill and Virginia's study and give it a bigger, international exposure.

"Masters of Sex" season 3 is expected to premiere on July 12.
