Matt Lauer has made headlines for the past few days after getting axed off of the "Today" show because of his alleged sexual misconduct. This news came as a shocker to everyone, according to a source, as the host was only known to have multiple extramarital affairs.

The insider divulged that the accusations thrown against Lauer had been surprising, to say the least, because Lauer was only known to cheat on his wife, model Annette Roque. In addition, the source did not hear of any sexual harassment rumors before the accusation.

"He regularly cheated on his wife. Everyone knew. His wife lives in the Hamptons and he lives in the city, but we never heard he made unwanted moves," the insider revealed.

A former staff at the "Today" show resounded the statement of the source and said that his cheating was "not a secret." The staff also said the allegations were far from what the 59-year-old former host showed as he was "friendly and approachable to everyone."

A third source divulged that there was more than one affair. Even so, the letter that alleged Lauer of sexual misconduct in the workplace had gotten the bosses' side. On Wednesday, anchor Savannah Guthrie read a statement released by NBC News chairman Andrew Lack revealing that Lauer had been fired from the job following a letter of complaint submitted to them.

Lack said that the letter was the first time that someone had complained of Lauer, who had been with the show for more than 20 years, but it was still enough to convince them to fire the host. A source claimed that the victim insinuated that something happened during Lauer's coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

However, this was not the first time that there had been a complaint against the host. Her wife herself filed for divorce in 2006, citing "inhumane acts" of Lauer, but Roque later withdrew her documents.
