Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight news 2015: No need for a rematch says Ariza

As far as conditioning coach Alex Ariza is concerned, there is no point of having a rematch between American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao since the outcome will most likely be the same.

The first fight which happened on May 2, 2015 saw Mayweather come out with a unanimous decision on Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He did say however the slimmest of chances that a rematch could take place may happen if he overhauls his team.

This means changing his promoter (Bob Arum) and coach (Freddie Roach) which in all seems highly unlikely.

At this stage of his career and Pacquiao not getting any younger, doing all that for the sake of getting another crack at Mayweather is close to impossible.

At 36, Pacquiao is in the twilight of his career and will most likely consider fighting one or two more fights before hanging up his gloves. Could Mayweather be one of those fight?

Do remember that an angle which could prove to be tempting for the undefeated boxer is the revenue it can possibly rack in. Though it may not be as record-setting as the first one ($400 million), the fact remains that there are some people who would still pay to see them fight again and hopefully on even grounds.

Mayweather got criticism for playing safe, taking select punches and employing his defensive tactics. Though such is not surprising, all that was set aside when Pacquiao revealed that he was fighting with an injury.

Pacquiao claimed he was fighting with a handicap and that he pushed through with the fight just to appease the fans. With that injury claim, fans cursed and went as far as suing Pacquiao for stepping into the ring.

Pacquiao of course underwent surgery and will be out until 2016. The Filipino boxer did hint that retirement would be an option though many feel that Pacquiao will step into the ring at least two more times.

For Mayweather, the flamboyant one is all set to take the ring this September with the opponent yet to be named. Amir Khan is said to be at the top of the list but the schedule seems to be an issue.

Kell Brook did sound off that he deserves a fight but the Mayweather team has yet to react on his rants.

Whoever it is, the September fight will be Mayweather's swan song from the ring. A win will allow him to match Rocky Marciano's 49-0 record and establish him as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers with an unblemished record.

As far as going beyond that, money may be the only reason for Mayweather to step back into the ring. It could be Pacquiao or someone else.

With a looming 49-0 record on the horizon, it looks like a large payday will be the only one to make a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao II possible.
