Production of the third installment in the Maze Runner franchise has reportedly been suspended, following an accident involving the lead in the movie, Dylan O'Brien. Titled "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," the movie has not been cancelled, as most fans fear, but has merely been delayed. Initially set for a 2017 release, the movie's premiere in the USA has now been pushed back to January 2018 as a Google search declares.

Game & Guide offers a quick recap of the incident behind the postponement, when O'Brien was hit by a car and sustained major injuries. The movie's safety agency WorkSafeBC discovered that Fox Productions was the guilty party here, having allowed the actor to perform stunts that he wasn't adequately trained for.

Rumors that sparked off as a result of this accident suggest that the "Teen Wolf"star also blames Fox. However, neither the actor nor any representative of the production studio has opened up on the issue. So for all we know, this could all be mere speculation.

The questions still continue to crop up though. Crossmap reports that a major factor behind these conjectures is that ever since the accident occurred way back in March, O'Brien hasn't been spotted in public. This has led many fans of the star to raise questions about his involvement in the upcoming movie. The absence of any official statement from Dylan's side has further fuelled the fire.

One of the only comments regarding these affairs came from O'Brien's publicist, Jennifer Allen, who confided to Entertainment Weekly, "His injuries are very serious and he needs more time to recover." Apparently, the filming and production of "The Death Cure" continues to remain on hold until the movie's protagonist recovers completely. Considering the heavy-duty action sequences that the previous two installments involved, this seems to be the best decision.
