Popular hack and slash adventure game made originally for the nostalgic PlayStation 1 (PS1) is finally coming to the latest console from PlayStation, the PS4. In addition to this, the game will even get a full remaster to make it an even better experience for the PS4 gamers.

President and CEO of Sony America Shawn Layden made the exciting announcement during the PlayStation Experience. With it, he also revealed a short trailer. Unfortunately, there is not much seen in the trailer except for some details about the remastered version. The trailer started off with the nostalgic dialogues from the original game. Despite the lack of teasers, the video did say to expect "more details soon."

"We think Sir Daniel needs one more resurrection and this is the time to do it," said Layden. "Serendipitously, I'd already had this one baking in the oven and then I saw all the pressure and thought this was a great time to talk about it."

The game was first "resurrected" in 2007 on the PlayStation Network with a remake in 2005 for the PSP, as per GameSpot. However, none of these were actual remakes. Prior to this, Layden mentioned that he garnered a lot of feedback from "MediEvil" fans. For him personally, it was "a really important title in my personal journey and career."

Aside from getting a remaster, the upcoming release will even feature support up to 4K. Fans can then expect a lot of changes from the original graphics. The original "MediEvil" was developed by Sony's studio in Cambridge. It was released back in 1998, and although there was no mentioned release date for the remaster, it would seem fitting to get it at exactly 20 years later in 2018.

However, given the time it takes to make a remaster and how the trailer has not even shown much, it may take longer than expected. Fans can only hope for a possible late 2018 release.
