Melania Trump meets K-Pop singer Choi Minho of SHINee
U.S. First Lady Melania Trump is no foreigner to viral trends, but even as a foreigner in South Korea, she still found her way to the trending list on social media. There she met Choi Minho, a member of popular boy band SHINee and together, both made the day for a bunch of schoolgirls.
Trump recently took a trip to South Korea due to an Olympic public diplomacy outreach campaign held last Nov. 7. She delivered a speech that mainly talked about giving girls the equal opportunity in sports. This is line with the upcoming 2018 Olympic Winter Games that will be held in PyeongChang.
According to Billboard, as part of the outreach, the schoolgirls played their own makeshift hockey game with Trump watching them and occasionally joining in. A few moments later, Minho joined Trump to watch the girls. It did not take long for one of them to notice who had just arrived and started screaming for joy. Trump knows the fame surrounding Minho and his boy band and just could not help but smile quite widely at the kids' reaction.
While normally it would be Minho taking the spotlight for surprise visiting these kids, Trump seemed to have shared the same spotlight with him. Not only was Minho talked about, but Trump's attitude was highly praised by many Koreans who have seen the photos and videos that went viral.
ABC News mentions how media has portrayed Trump as emotionless. After having seen her in South Korea with these schoolgirls, she has broken that stereotype. The Koreans loved her reaction and her attitude toward the schoolgirls.Even her fashion sense while in the country was talked about on social media as well.
The event took place while her husband, U.S. President Donald Trump, attended a summit with South Korea President Moon Jae-in.
