Memphis Grizzlies free agency trade rumors 2016: Mike Conley mum on future plans

Mike Conley Jr. is considered one of the integral parts of the Memphis Grizzlies along with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.

Technically, they are the big three in Memphis; but all that may be put to the test when the season ends.

With Conley set to become a free agent this summer, there is no guarantee that he will stick it out in Memphis despite the strong relationship he holds with center Marc Gasol.

But even with that said, there is no telling what is going on in the young guard's mind. And no matter how hard anyone tries to get it out from him, Conley chooses to save all the suspense for the offseason as he tries to deal with the task at hand.

One team hot on his tail are the New York Knicks. It is no secret that the Knicks are eager for a point guard upgrade and Conley is at the top of the list.

The Knicks could make a pitch for the Grizzlies guard in the offseason, although it will come at a steep price. He is likely to be offered a max contract and the Knicks will need to unload assets to fit him and that salary in.

Conley seemed impressed with the Knicks, and this was where all possible transfer talks started. One of those looming possibilities is a chance to play alongside rookie Kristaps Porzingis and resident star Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks currently have $18 million in cap space which may not be enough to lure Conley in. The NY Post mentions that the team could use the stretch provision on Jose Calderon to add another $3 million in space to pad their planned pitch.

However, all of that will probably need tinkering after this season. It may still be too early to tell plus the fact that the Grizzlies are unlikely to let Conley to simply walk away.

"When the offseason comes, you make the decision with your family and do what's best for you and the situation," Conley said.
