The Memphis Grizzlies continue to thrive this 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) regular season and last Tuesday captured their second consecutive victory against the New Orleans Pelicans on the road, 113–104.

Leading the charge for Memphis was All-Star big man Marc Gasol who recorded a career-high 38 points, also having 13 rebounds, six assists, and four rejections in 42 minutes of action.

"It's been a tough week to 10 days as far as me playing and I wanted to take a different approach to the game and it worked," Gasol said, according to the Associated Press.

"I imposed a little bit my will. ... Instead of trying to get somebody else going or trying to read and see what was in front of me, I just went ahead and tried to be a little more aggressive," the 30-year-old added.

Following Gasol in scoring was another big man in former All-Star forward Zach Randolph who scored 14 points and six boards.

The Grizzlies also had help from their bench as forward Matt Barnes and guard Courtney Lee scored 13 points each to lead the reserves.

Grizzlies guard Mike Conley Jr., who finished with 11 points, complimented Gasol's game, calling it a "special night" and also hoping that the All-Star big man may start a trend with the performance, the Associated Press reported.

Memphis' (11–8) road win last Tuesday placed it fourth in the Western Conference standings, having a tie record with the fifth-placed Dallas Mavericks.

Next for the Grizzlies is a three-game Western Conference home stand, taking on the San Antonio Spurs today, Thursday; Phoenix Suns on Sunday; and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans continue the struggle with the defeat to the Grizzlies Tuesday being their third consecutive, before another loss to the Houston Rockets Wednesday.

Despite the string of losses, the Pelicans are only second to the last in the West with a 4–15 record.
