'Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain' updates: Release date still unannounced

Players who are ardently waiting for "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" have so many things to worry about other than getting the new title. There is the release date that is heavily shrouded in mystery. Then there is the other date on when Konami and game director Hideo Kojima will announce the game's release date.

It is a bit of a mess but the developers of the open world action-adventure stealth video game tout that the announcement that will point to the day "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be within reach is "coming soon."

Apparently, Konami has already agreed to a launch date for the installment but it looks like the studio has not decided when it will inform the fans. Even Konami Executive Tora Shiro is annoyed, just like everyone who are at the edge of their seats for the all-new "Metal Gear."

"Not being able to announce a release date is just as annoying on our side. HQ gonna HQ a little longer," Shiro said via NeoGAF.

However, the executive apparently knows "more than [he is] supposed to." This could only mean that the release date has already been set in stone but somewhere within Konami Japan is holding off an announcement. It seems that the publisher cannot just give the green light and the worst part is, no one seems to know why.

Shiro was quick to say that even this aspect is not easy to determine.

"To be fair, it's no longer waiting on people, it's more like just coming to an agreement on the details. We operate on a global scale, you know," defends the Konami executive

"Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" is sure in the offing and should be out this year. The publisher will be notifying patrons of when exactly that would happen. The game is set to arrive on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
