Back in September, a video of the secret ending for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" leaked online. However, up to this point no one has been able to unlock it within the game. Konami has finally issued an official statement on its website how this ending can be unlocked.

In order to unlock the "Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event" ending, a player must first finish Mission 31. The player must not own or be currently developing any nuclear weapon. It is stated that if the player has any nuclear weapon in stock, it must be dismantled.

Konami then states that "certain conditions" regarding nuclear proliferation must be achieved not just by the player but by the whole regional server per platform. The fourth and final step is to ensure all nuclear weapons on a specific regional server of a console or platform must be dismantled in order for the ending to unlock.

Once achieved, the ending will play upon a player's return to Mother Base.

However, as pointed out in a report from Games Radar, this requires all players on a platform to dismantle their nuclear weapons. For example: all U.S. players playing the game on the PS4 must eradicate their nuclear weapons in order for U.S. PS4 players to see the ending. 

Konami then posted just how many nuclear weapons are active per platform. As of Nov. 25, the blog post reveals there are 352 nuclear weapons on the PS4 platform, 250 on the PS3, 96 on the Xbox One, 85 on the Xbox 360 and 15,691 on PC via Steam.

Games Radar also points that some players have identified themselves as "Patriots," who intend on keeping nuclear weapons active, and others as the "Philanthropists," who want to remove all nuclear weapons on their respected platforms, making it even more difficult for the secret ending to be properly achieved and viewed.
