After a long delay, fans of the Metal Gear franchise can now rejoice, as Konami has announced that the upcoming game "Metal Gear Survive" will be released in early 2018.

Video game publisher Konami announced this week via Twitter that the upcoming game will be arriving on Feb. 20. The company also announced that players can now pre-order the game to enjoy some freebies once the game is released.

These freebies include two emote gestures, four gold-plated weapons, four metallic scarves, a Mother Base nameplate, a face paint style, and a Boxman accessory called "The Orange," which is a homage to "Metal Gear Solid."

"Metal Gear Survive" will be released for consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as on PC via Steam.

Fans will remember that the game was supposed to be released this year, but Konami representatives announced in June that the game would be delayed to 2018. According to the company, this was done because the team behind the game needed more time.

"Metal Gear Survive" is a spin-off game that takes place in the same universe as the other main Metal Gear series titles. This upcoming game will take place right after the events that players witnessed in "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes."

In this game, players will be dropped into an open world environment tasked to take down zombie-like enemies using a powerful array of new weapons. The game will be played from a third person perspective, and players will be able to explore the world and receive various quests to complete.

The game also includes a cooperative multiplayer mode wherein up to four players can team up and work together to complete the quests. If a player chooses solo play, he or she will still be given three artificial intelligence (AI) teammates to assist the player in battles.
