Fans of the open-world games would definitely have known and maybe even loved the games in the "Metro" series, "Last Light" and "Metro 2033." The upcoming game, "Metro Exodus," has been reported to provide hours and hours of gameplay so much so that the whole world of this game is said to be bigger than the two mentioned games combined.

Fans of the "Metro" series have always expected "Metro Exodus" to be a big almost open-world kind of game, but are surprised at how big its world seems to be. "Stalker" remains to be the complete open-world and nobody thought "Metro Exodus" could ever be of the same level. However, it looks like many have been mistaken as the new game's open world may actually be nearly close to that of "Stalker."

There are a lot of big areas in the game, that is for sure, as mentioned by creative producer Jon Bloch, in an interview with Game Informer. "In each of these big areas, there's hours of gameplay, above ground, below ground. In general the game itself is larger than anything we've ever made before," said Bloch. "Larger than the past two games — together."

The individual levels would also then be a lot larger. Creative director Andiry Prokhorov mentioned that the biggest outdoor level was around two square kilometers. For comparison, he used "Last Light's" biggest outdoor level, which was only a measly 200 meters to 100 meters.

Prokhorov also mentioned that the biggest struggle they had when making the game was getting that balance between an open-world game while also not doing so as this would go against how the "Metro" game series has always been. Fortunately, he thinks that they did a good job with the new game.

"Metro Exodus" has no official release date yet. It is, however, expected to be released this year, possibly late 2018.
