The official "Metro" website has detailed that the third book, "Metro 2035," is launching in December, but it also reveals that a new game is coming as well. The website previously stated that this untitled game is coming in 2017, but now, the publishers at Deep Silver have refuted this claim.

"As the exclusive rights holder to video games set in the 'Metro 2033' universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful 'Metro' series. But just to manage our fans' expectations - releasing the next 'Metro' game in 2017 is not one of them," Deep Silver announced on Facebook.

Eurogamer reports that the game's developer, 4A Games, is working on two titles at the time being. One is the aforementioned game that will take place after the events of the upcoming book, "Metro 2035," and the other is a VR game titled "Artika1."

The report reveals that the developers are not being hindered by the development of the VR game. However, with the publishers stating that the "Metro" game is not launching in 2017, it could only mean that it has been delayed to 2018, or it may still be deep in development which is why they do not want to confirm the 2017 launch date.

The "Metro" series includes three main books, two of which have been released in Russia, and a third will be coming out in English soon, along with the games "Metro 2033" and "Metro: Last Light." The first game is an adaptation of the first book while the second bridges the gap between the first and second books. The next game, which is still untitled, will be set following the events of the third and final book.

In all entries, the world has been destroyed by nuclear war, and the remaining survivors live in underground metro stations scattered across Moscow. Ammunition is used as currency and each station represents a standalone government. Both games have been praised upon release.
