Mexico have had a torrid past 12 months in the soccer scene, and have been one of the most inconsistent sides in world football. They have undoubtedly the potential to compete with the top teams in the sport, but they have too often put in lackluster performances and gained mediocre results.

They had an ultimately disappointing Gold Cup 2013 campaign, and have also struggled somewhat in their qualification games for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

Mexico will be looking to get themselves back on track with a good performance and result tonight against the Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast have also been a team struggling to live up to their hype in recent years. In the 2010 World Cup they were touted to be one of the strongest African teams, however, they flopped in the tournament and failed to make it out of the group stages. Since then they have also disappointed at consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

They too will be looking at today's game as being one they feel they can potentially win, and if they can it would go a long way to building confidence in the squad and act as a platform for the team going forward.

Mexico and the Ivory Coast can be watched from 9 p.m. ET on ESPN 2 and can be watched online through ESPN 3 by clicking on a live stream link here.
