The Miami Marlins are not doing so well this season as they continue their campaign without All-Star slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who is out since going through left hamate surgery last June 28 and is currently having a slower recovery.

Stanton said, according to Fox Sports, that he is trying to swing with all the strength he can muster and he is hitting the ball decently; but still there is pain in his left hand.

He added about his recovery, "Definitely slower. That's the generation of your whole swing is that turnover, your hand and your wrist. I know what a sore wrist feels like and now with a broken hand and the sore wrist, it takes a little longer."

Meanwhile Marlins manager Dan Jennings said in the report that Stanton is not yet in his comfort level which will make the recovery process go faster.

Jennings explained that the 25-year-old athlete is still trying to strengthen his wrist and is not quite there yet.

"He knows his body, as I've said. When he gets to that point I think you'll see that clock speed up and he'll be able to progress in the live BP and be ready to go," Jennings added.

Before suffering the injury, Stanton played in 74 games and led the Major League Baseball (MLB) with 27 home runs and 67 RBIs.

He was also voted to start in the 2015 MLB All-Star Game held at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio last month but was unable to participate. 

According to reports, once the pain in his wrist goes away, Stanton will advance to the next steps of his recovery before participating in rehab games and returning with the Marlins in the majors. 

The Marlins are currently facing NL East leaders the New York Mets who are on a roll in a three-game home series.
