Michael Bublé's wife thanks God for son's recovery from cancer, says God gave her strength
The wife of singer Michael Bublé has revealed how her faith in God got her through their three-year-old son's cancer battle as he continues to recover.
Actress Luisana Lopilato said she kept faith that God had a miracle throughout Noah's ordeal as she thanked fans for their prayers.
Noah underwent four months of chemotherapy in the US after being diagnosed with liver cancer last November. The treatment was successful, although Lopilato said his recovery would be a "long process" and require more tests. The family are now back in Argentina and Lopilato has returned to work, having previously abandoned all work commitments to be by her son's side following the diagnosis.
Speaking at a press conference for her new movie, Lopilato spoke about how her son's cancer had impacted her life.
"Thank God, my son is well. When things like those that happened to us occur, your take on life changes. It happened to us. Now I value life much more, the now and the today. I would like to thank people for their support, for the prayers they said, for their love."
Lopilato took a break from the period drama movie, Those Who Love And Hate, to be with her son during his treatment, and husband Michael also cancelled his work commitments after his son's diagnosis.
She has now returned to work and the press conference marked her first public comments on Noah's cancer. She said the family united to fight Noah's cancer together and that she believed God for a miracle.
"My faith in the fact God had a miracle helped me. I became strong so my son would get better," she said.
Michael has kept fans updated on the progress of his son's treatment via his Facebook page. Back in February, he also expressed his thanks to God when he confirmed that Noah had been responding well to treatment.
"We thank God for the strength he has given all of us. Our gratitude to his doctors and caretakers cannot be put into words," his post read.
When the doctors first confirmed Noah's diagnosis in November, Bublé and his wife immediately requested prayers from fans, saying they would win the battle "God willing."
Noah's uncle, Dario Lopilato, said last month that his recovery was a "miracle from God" and that the "comfort of Jesus" had gotten them through.
"It was something that has united us a lot as a family. God exists," he said
