Earlier this month, former Formula One team principal Ross Brawn gave fans a glimmer of hope when he said Michael Schumacher was showing "encouraging signs" in his recovery. However, he has decided to retract his comments earlier this week.

In an interview with The Guardian, Brawn felt he had to clarify the previous remarks he made about Schumacher's health.

"I was quoted as saying he's improving and it was not what I really meant. The family are conducting his convalescence in private and I need to respect that. So I don't want to comment on his condition beyond saying we're extremely hopeful we'll see Michael as we knew him at some point in the future," he said.

Brawn also revealed that he often goes to see how Schumacher's doing. "We go see him and hope and pray that one day he will make a recovery," he said. Brawn worked with Schumacher for many years, first with Benetton, then with Ferrari, and later on with Mercedes.

Obviously, all the Schumacher family wants is some privacy. So, all those random reports out there speculating that he can now walk and talk have to be careful. Just ask German magazine Bunte what it feels like to be sued for €40,000–100,000. His fans obviously want to know more about his current condition, but they will need to understand that his family does not want to face the press right now. They'd rather handle the situation behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, Schumacher has officially joined Facebook and Instagram. Well, someone close to him probably made the account, but it will serve as a place where his fans can meet and share the memories of his many achievements. Sources say a Twitter account will launch soon. Perhaps they may release updates regarding his health on those social media accounts once he gets better.
