Xbox One players should wait a little longer before they can begin to play their favorite games with the help of a personal assistant, as Microsoft prepares to launch Cortana in the company's popular gaming console next year.

In the recently expanded beta testing of the New Xbox One Experience (NXBE), Microsoft managed to add more Xbox One owners to the list of people who can preview the new interface that features the Windows 10-compatible Cortana.

According to a statement from Xbox director of programming Larry Hryb, those who are currently enjoying the access to the new Xbox One beta app will have the chance to access Cortana through the game console later this year. It means that they will enjoy the opportunity of having the virtual assistant earlier compared to the other Xbox One owners who did not subscribe to the beta stage.

Microsoft describes Cortana as the smart personal assistant that can be used by all Windows users. It can help in searching for files in the PC, as well as take care of the userss schedule, track parcels, and even chat and tell jokes. It is basically a built-in personal secretary in all Windows 10 devices.

"You can dictate emails to Cortana and with Cortana on all Windows 10 devices, your search terms, flight info, and news feeds are in sync on your phone, PC, and tablet. Enjoy the convenience of your very own personal assistant and relax knowing that you're in control of the information you share with Cortana," the description on Microsoft's website reads.

Cortana was supposed to be launched on Xbox One when it was first released alongside the Windows 10 operating system in July but it was later on delayed to 2016. No explanation was provided for the delay.

Aside from the Xbox One, Cortana will also be launched on other Microsoft-manufactured devices powered by Windows 10 such as PC, tablet, Lumia and Windows smartphones, as well as the Microsoft Band 2 wearable device.
