When you look for smartphones, chances are you would initially find Android powered ones readily available in the market. However, don't be surprised if you find a new player in the mix, Microsoft's first smartphone offering in the mold of the Lumia 535.

The Microsoft Lumia 535 is a budget-friendly Windows phone that should appeal to people who want a cost-friendly handset. It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 and carries a slew of able features which should gain interest from people who don't really care about a device that is too complicated or savvy to handle.

Now being a Windows Phone, users will need to get used to the interface. It possesses practical features that anyone would need from a mid-range phone, available in the usual array of colors that Nokia has been known to offer from its Lumia series.

Powering up the Lumia 535 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 quad core 1.2 Ghz Cortex-A7 processor and 1GB of RAM. It comes with only 8GB of internal storage but all that could be resolved by using the 15GB OneDrive cloud storage.

It will come with a 5-inch screen that features a decent resolution of 960x540 pixels. As for the camera, it comes with a decent 5 megapixel (2592x1936 pixels) autofocus camera with an optional LED flash. The camera supports geo-tagging and can record videos at 480p at 30 frames per second.

For power concerns, the Lumia 535 comes with a 1905 mAh Li-Ion battery which could be good on standby for about 4 days, depending of course on how you use it. To save on consumption, a battery saver function is available to allow you to stretch the power of the device.

The Microsoft Lumia 535 launched last year and is already available in the market. In the U.S., it retails for about $175. In the UK, it will cost you £99.82 for one. So if you are low on budget and are looking for a simple and sane phone, this is one phone you may want to add to your list of options.
