Microsoft has launched a new entry-level to mid-range handset with the announcement of the Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual Sim. The Lumia 540 should be perfect for people in search of an affordable device, something priced at just $150.

As many people continue to await Microsoft's next release of flagship model successors, it seems that the company has opted to serve the conservative consumers for the meantime.

The Microsoft Lumia 540 comes with a fair set of specs. That includes features such as a 5-inch 720p HD display and something powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset (1.2 GHz).

Further specs reveal that it will also come with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage which is expandable via the usual microSD card slot of up to 128GB. It will however provide more storage options since it also comes with 15GB OneDrive Cloud storage, meaning eventual owners can expect up to 15GB additional storage space upon OneDrive activation.

The Microsoft Lumia 540 will come equipped with an 8MP rear and 5MP front-facing camera and will bank on a removable 2,200 mAh battery that will provide potential buyers up to 15 hours of talk time. The Lumia 540 will come in an array of glossy colors such as cyan, orange, white and matte black.

The phone, which weighs just 152 g, is perfect for people who have two lines (SIM cards) although the device will only be 3G capable. It will run on a Windows Phone 8.1 OS and includes a Lumia Denim update as well.

With the aforementioned specs, the Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM seems like a reasonably priced device for the folks who want a simple phone to carry along. Being an entry-level device, the specs seem pretty decent for beginners and people who may be looking for a spare handset running on the company's marquee OS.

The Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM device is set to be introduced next month and will be targeting the Asian and African regions.
