The new buzz about Microsoft's latest smartphone ventures is that a successor to the Lumia 830 is going to be released in the very near future. New reports are claiming that the tech firm is working on a new Windows phone that goes by the name of Lumia 840. Although a release date has not been designated and Microsoft hasn't made it official yet, the Lumia 840 is expected to hit the market really soon plainly because its maker already extracted the Lumia 830 units from markets in India.

However, to Windows buffs' surprise, the Lumia 840 will only offer support for Windows 8.1 GDR2 and not Windows 10. Apparently, if there is one Lumia handset set to make a splash with the upcoming operating system, it would be the Microsoft Lumia 940.

What the Lumia 840 is getting, on the other hand, is a bit of a specs makeover. An unidentified Microsoft employee has outlined the makings of the device and even suggested the 840 moniker due to the handset's use of the 830 as its blueprint.

When Lumia 840 comes out in the open, users can expect it to come with a 5-inch display. The Lumia 830 came in HD and rendered a 720 x 1080 pixel resolution. Design-wise, the Lumia 840 will likely resemble that of its predecessor. Microsoft, it seems, will keep Dual SIM support in the upcoming device.

The Redmond-based tech firm is bringing the big guns on the imaging department. Microsoft is known for the quality of the camera units on its offerings and the Lumia 840 will be no stranger to that. Rumor has it that it will boast a 13-megapixel PureView camera on the back and 5 megapixels on the front.
