Microsoft is rumored to be working on its next flagship, which is said to come with a larger variant. Dubbed as the Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL, the handsets, according to new reports, will resemble the Lumia 830 in design and will be dressed in an aluminum frame and a polycarbonate back. 

The upcoming Windows smartphones are also touted to be the first handsets to run Windows 10. This, in turn, requires the use of a USB Type-C connector instead of the USB Micro-B. The operating system has a feature called Continuity, which allows users to switch to touch and desktop mode. 

With Windows 10 onboard, the Lumia 940 and 940 XL will also boast an iris scanner, a biometric security feature integrated in the new software. Users will also be able to charge the handsets wirelessly with their device's newfound support for docking stations. 

The Lumia 940 is said to come with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display while its big brother will measure 5.7 inches. The former is said to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor while the latter is likely to get its power from the new Snapdragon 810 processor. 

Both are said to offer 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Their similarities extend to the camera department, which is composed of a hefty 20-megapixel PureView rear-facing shooter and a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front. Batteries are at 3000 mAh for the Lumia 940 and 3300 mAh for the 940 XL. 

However, Microsoft has not said a word about the handsets. The tech giant has yet to confirm the aforementioned specifications, but it is believed that it won't be long before the company lifts the veil off and makes the new Lumia smartphones official. 

Meanwhile, the tech firm is also expected to release the Lumia 840, which, as per reports and leaks from import-export listings, is in testing in India as the moment.
