Microsoft promises that one of the most unique features of its new Lumia lineup will be its cameras.

In a post on the official company blog, Microsoft's Director for cameras for phones, Juha Alakarhu, wrote that the shooters in both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL will have some "camera magic" with them. The blog post also provided more details on the hardware and software features of the cameras. In addition, there were also sample images taken with the two new Lumias, and if the pictures were any indication, the 950 and 950 XL indeed have powerful shooters in them, capable of churning out incredible and amazing photos.

Although the higher the pixels are, the better the cameras, this is not always the case, said Alakarhu. The hardware itself also plays a part on how powerful a phone's camera will be. In the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, hardware specs include a PureView camera with 20-MP advanced BSI sensor as the main shooter, and a 5-MP wide-angle front-facing one. The main camera have all the advanced tech for image captures – F1.9 Zeiss optics; triple-LED natural flash; the most recent, fifth-gen optical images stabilization; ISO12800; and 4K video features.

Judging by the sample photos, industry insider The Verge noted that the patented Nokia PureView technology had been impressive. Although the website said that the images have been obviously selected from a batch of photos to showcase best-case scenario for the new Lumia phones, the image capture possibilities of Lumia 950 and 950 XL are promising.

Meanwhile, TechRadar focused on the phones' camera tech being able to capture crystal-clear and crisp photos even in low-light settings. The upgraded OIS and larger aperture hardware of the new cameras accounted for the updated features.

Fans who are waiting for their turn to sample the cameras of the new Lumias will not have that long to wait, as the Lumia 950 and 950 XL are scheduled to roll out in stores next month.
