Companies buying out other companies would usually have big implications, especially when it comes to big multinationals. All the more change would happen if a big group is acquired by another company. That might be the case for Microsoft, as rumors suggest that they are looking to acquire some other big companies including Electronic Arts (EA), Valve, and PUBG Corp.

The rumors were first reported by Polygon and were from a "reliable source." According to this, the first step for Microsoft would be to acquire EA, then possibly Valve and PUBG Corp. These rumors were brought up following the news of Sony and the huge success of the PS4 given their numerous exclusive games.

"Because of where we are in the lifecycle of all these things, I'm expecting to hear Microsoft announce something very, very shortly," says SuperDataResearch CEO and analyst Joost Van Dreunen. That announcement may just be the acquisition as a step towards making more exclusives for the Xbox One.

A publishing company giant like EA would make sense, as it would give a huge boost to Microsoft's gaming industry. EA has been quite reputable despite their issue last year with loot boxes. Speaking of exclusives, it also may not be surprise for PUBG Corp. to be a likely target for an acquisition.

Microsoft and the company had made a deal months ago resulting in an (timed) exclusive of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PUBG) for the Xbox One. Given their success, Microsoft could easily capitalize on it. This is not the first time as they did the same thing for "Mojang," the developers of "Minecraft."

As for now, these are all just rumors even if mentioned by a reputable source. If these do happen, then gamers can likely expect more games for the Xbox One and a tougher competition against Sony and the PS4.
