While most Apple users are still waiting for the release of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops, those who prefer to use Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system are now holding off buying any of the currently available offerings for Microsoft's upcoming 2-in-1 laptop, the Microsoft Surface Book 2. The company has unfortunately not yet revealed when they would be unveiling their highly anticipated new device, but that hasn't stopped reports from speculating on its possible hardware specifications and features.

The original multi-purpose laptop had received mostly positive reviews when it was released last year. The positive praises were of course well deserved as the first generation Microsoft Surface Book was jam-packed with capabilities that made it one of the best Windows 10 devices available in the market. The device, however, had its shortcomings which ranges from its less than stellar battery life to the unique but unsightly dynamic fulcrum hinge.

According to the latest rumor reports regarding the upcoming new device, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 will likely be coming in an entirely new design that will make it look quite different from its predecessor. There are reports that claim that Microsoft might be doing away with its fulcrum hinge design and going with a more traditional laptop hinge. The current generation's fulcrum hinge actually does what it is supposed to, but due to its design, the laptop apparently does not close all the way and leaves a small crack where dust can accumulate.

The other problem that is expected to be remedied on the new Surface Book is its battery life. The current generation currently has very miniscule batteries embedded on its two main parts. However, the small battery results in the tablet part of the laptop lasting just less than 3 hours on a single charge.

The keyboard part of course has its own battery, but the combined power of both parts don't really provide that much in terms of battery performance. Reports have revealed that with the help of the latest generation Intel Kaby Lake processor, better battery technology, and better battery management software, the next generation Surface Book 2 will be offering a significantly improved battery performance that will be appreciated by its users.

As of the moment, Microsoft has not yet revealed a fixed release date for the new generation Surface Book 2 laptop. Reports have however predicted that it might be unveiled before the year ends.
