Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date rumors: New Surface Book to launch next month?

The current Microsoft Surface lineup: the Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, and Surface Pro 3Microsoft

According to speculations, Microsoft will be readying a major update to the Windows 10 platform in September, and the reveal will go together with a number of new Surface lineup releases. However, recent rumors suggest that at least one Surface product is ready as early as next month.

Reportedly, the Surface Book 2 will launch this June.

Rumor has it that the Surface Book 2 will be revealed next month as Microsoft's new entry in the hybrid wars. Apparently, the new Surface Book iteration is the company's answer to another upcoming professional level slate, Apple's new MacBook Pro lineup. It is said that the Cupertino-based company will be revealing the 2016 MacBooks at its WWDC event next month.

Since the Surface Book 2 will be the next-gen flagship from Microsoft, the professional-level laptop will come out with much-improved design, build, and internals. One of the most notable features of the Surface Book 2 is said to be a significant jump in its display tech. Reportedly, the new Surface Book will boast of a 4K display, for a clearer and crisper resolution than its predecessor. In addition, the Surface Book 2 is said to be much slimmer and will have a sleeker profile than its previous iteration as Microsoft switches to USB Type-C ports.

However, it should be noted that a mid-2016 release for a new Surface product remains hearsay. Microsoft has yet to provide details on the new lineups. In addition, recent reports have mentioned that the Kaby Lake SoC, the seventh-gen Intel processors that Microsoft wants for its new Surface products, will not make it this early, and assembly may be finished by late 2016. This means that Microsoft will have to wait for the new chipsets to come out of production before releasing their new Surface lineups.
