Microsoft's launch of the Surface Laptop proves the accuracy of the leaked images on Twitter.

According to the company's press release announcing the launch of the product, the device was designed for the education sector. The statement says that the Surface Laptop was developed with two things in mind: to refresh the look of the laptop, which was requested by their clients; and to make it such that it will work seamlessly with the new Windows 10 S operating system.

The device weighs at 2.76 lbs., and is 14.47 mm at its thickest. It comes with a 13.5-inch PixelSense Display, which bears 3.4 million pixels, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Microsoft claims that it is the "thinnest LCD touch screen display in any laptop. It bears an Alcantara-covered keyboard to ensure typing comfort. It runs using a seventh-generation Intel Core processor. The laptop, according to the press release, can run for 14.5 hours without charging.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop comes in four colors: platinum, burgundy, cobalt blue, and graphite gold. The shell itself is made of anodized metal.

All of these specifications, as well as the promotional photos released by Microsoft, were previously released online by Twitter user WalkingCat. PC World was also proven to be correct, when it theorized that the laptop would be designed for the education sector, given its leaked operating system.

BGR notes that based on the images, the laptop will bear USB-A and Thunderbolt/Display Port connectors. It also seems to have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, as well as an SD card reader.

Microsoft Surface Laptop is now up for grabs for pre-order, although it will be available on June 15. Its price starts at $999.

It is important to note, however, that WalkingCat never mentioned in any of the posts that the images feature the Surface Book 2. Instead, the user described it as the "Surface Laptop."
