The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book initially released with blooming reviews and the former has most recently been awarded the Tablet of the Year award from Yahoo! However, as noted in a report from Engadget, customers have begun experiencing severe problems and now Microsoft has addressed the issue.

"We know a small set of Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 customers are experiencing issues and addressing that is a top priority for us. We have dedicated engineering teams working to get updates and fixes out as quickly as possible," reads the official statement issued to Engadget.

Microsoft also made a public statement apologizing to consumers on its official blog. The statement also explains that they have already addressed several issues and these can be fixed by simply updating the consumer's device using the Windows Update service. However, this will not fix all of the current problems of the Surface Pro 4.

Some of the known issues include screen flickering and system instability. Many consumers also point out that the Surface Pro 4's built-in Intel M3 chip does not perform as well as advertised and that the device can sometimes crash for no reasons.

Problems with the Surface Book go one step further. As stated in the report, there are consumers complaining of the battery continuing to drain despite the cover closing or the device being put into sleep mode. This can be a very big issue for people who rarely bring their charger with them, relying solely on the advertised battery lifespan.

Despite these issues, Yahoo! has placed the Surface Pro 4 as the best tablet of the year. Following it are the iPad Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, both of which are similar in size and price range. However, the Surface Pro 4's main advantage is that it runs on a full version of Windows 10, giving users the desktop experience on a tablet.
