Although the current Surface Pro 3 is still one of the undisputed workhorses of choice for many, Microsoft fans are already waiting anxiously for the next in line in the company's hybrid and 2-in-1 series. However, it seems that those who are waiting for the upcoming Surface Pro 4 will have to wait a little longer as reports have surfaced that its supposed target release date has been pushed back to next year.

Many observers have said that a new Surface Pro is long overdue, and predicted that the fourth in line in Microsoft's premiere hybrid flagships will be coming out this year. However, the pundits might have noted down the timeframe a little early since the arrival of the Surface Pro 4 would most likely not happen as predicted. According to the reports that surfaced this week, Microsoft is planning to push back the intended release of the Surface Pro 4 to as late as the latter part of next year.

According to news site CRN, although Microsoft did not directly say it, the company's recent actions could spell a delay in the new Surface Pro's release this year. Microsoft is seen to be expanding its market base for the company's current hybrid flagship products, the Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3. The Redmond-based tech giant has just approved several distribution centers to be Authorized Device Resellers, which would carry the current Surface products. The company reportedly hopes that by partnering with more establishments and widening the Surface 3's and Pro 3's reach, the product line would get a market boost.

Although it has already been reported that Microsoft has started working on a new Surface Pro, this supposed recent move by the company seems to deviate from an all-out offensive to compete with other upcoming tablets such as the rumored upgraded Apple iPad and a much-better Galaxy Tab S Pro.
