Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 slate was on a whole new stratum in terms of performance, features and flexibility. Now, the company will be looking to raise the bar once more and bring about an improved tablet lineup in the form of what tech enthusiasts expect to be the Surface Pro 4. For starters, the tablet-laptop hybrid is reported to have two variants.

According to Design & Trend, the Surface Pro 4 will be available in two screen size models. The larger of the two might possess a screen size of up to 14 inches and will render a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. The smaller one, dubbed as the Surface Pro 4 Mini, will have a screen size of 8 inches and will possess a less crispy resolution. 

Also, the rumored slate, or new pair of tablets, will be sporting the company's Windows 10 "unified interface" platform. Microsoft was originally supposed to release the operating system this April, but according to the company's Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Turner, Windows 10 will be officially released later this year, with a beta version in the works. This means that the Surface Pro 4 will most likely be released during the fourth quarter of 2015. 

In terms of hardware specifications, both devices will reportedly be equipped with Intel's Core M Broadwell processors, which have been praised for their energy efficiency. However, Design & Trend pointed out that the chips lack the necessary processing power required to overtake the Core i processors present in the Surface Pro 3. It can be presumed that using lower performing processors would equate to a lower price tag.  

As for the remainder of the specifications and "add-on" features, there has been no word as to what the Surface Pro 4 will be sporting. Microsoft has yet to announce official details about the alleged device, as well as its release date and price.
