Here's another good reason why Microsoft is expected to release a Surface Pro 4 soon: the current Surface Pro 3 garnered the Best Mobile Tablet Award at this year's Mobile World Congress, and fans would certainly be looking for a follow-up device.

One of the highlights at the MWC was the GSMA's 20th Global Mobile Awards. The competition pitted various slates against each other, including Microsoft's Surface Pro 3, Apple's iPad Air 2, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Google's Nexus 9, and Sony's Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The Surface Pro 3 won the hearts of 300 experts.

"Its very carefully engineered design bridges the worlds of consumption and creation like no other. Users can embrace the tablet form factor leaving their PC behind with no regrets," says the GSMA jury

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 made a buzz after it was released last year. The tablet immediately attracted attention as it offers the functions of a tablet and a notebook, thanks to a keyboard accessory along with a stylus, among many other notable features.

Because of the positive reception of critiques and consumers to the Surface Pro 3, there have already been a lot of speculations on the specs and features of its alleged successor. For one, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is predicted to feature a 12-inch screen display, Broadwell processors, and 8 GB of RAM. Also, the slate is expected to have the upcoming Windows 10 operating system that will offer seamless combination of tablet and laptop functions, significantly improving the performance of the tablet. With this OS, this tablet-laptop hybrid will be able to run both mobile and desktop apps.

The Surface Pro 4 is rumored to arrive sometime this year, although Microsoft has not given any official announcement regarding the device.
