While fans eagerly wait for details on a follow-up, Microsoft continues to update its current-gen Surface products, particularly the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book. The Redmond-based tech conglomerate has just rolled out a number of new updates for this month.

Detailing the updates, Paul Thurrott says that this is part of the almost-monthly updates that Microsoft rolls out as part of the Windows 10 platform. Most noted on the June updates are improvements on battery optimization features, so that users will have better power management and longer use for the devices.

Meanwhile, there are also product-specific updates included. For the Surface Pro 4, the new June update fixes some glitches like the issue where the display remains on active state even when the clipboard is closed against the keyboard. In addition, the new update also addresses stability issues with hibernation and waking up the Surface Pro 4 from sleep. For the Surface Book, the new update addresses concerns on unexpected shutdowns when the device is sleeping, as well as hibernation and active display issues even when the Surface Book is not in use.

The June update also adds new drivers for the new devices.

Aside from the current-gen flagships, the previous-gen Surface Pro 3 also received a number of improvements with the June updates. The LTE variant of the Surface Pro 3 now has improved stability in terms of connections with mobile broadband.

While the monthly updates for the new Surface products are welcome news to users, some observers note that this means that there are always a number of issues that crop up with the new Windows 10 platform. One particular glitch that Microsoft always addresses is the power consumption bug, with some followers saying that this is because of poor battery management in the Sky Lake chipset used on the Surface Pro 4.
