Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date: Lighter device, rechargeable Stylus, and more improvements

The Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft did come with a sane list of features if one compares it to the predecessor. But like any device, there are still a lot of things that the laplet can offer.

At the top of the list is the weight of the laptop/ tablet. Seeing the previous overall weight of the Surface Pro 4, tinkering around with some of its components should help improve on that. Even though weight isn't necessarily one of the things that could make it a big hit with techies, it nevertheless provides a comfier way of transporting it.

The battery of life is one that seems a bit controversial. When the Surface Pro 4 was unveiled, it was promised that the device can last up to nine hours.

According to user feedback, however, such is not the case. The reality of it is that the device lasts only between five to seven hours so Microsoft may want to look into that claim and maybe render a longer-lasting device.

With fingerprint scanners turning out to be the modern day security measure for most mobile devices, the Surface Pro 5 could offer something better with a bio-metric authentication situated on the body and not on the Type C keyboard alone. The Surface Pro 4 has that security feature on the keyboard only.

There are also concerns about a noisy fan and some wondering if Microsoft can just integrate the keyboard rather than force consumers buy one separately. That makes the Surface Pro 5 a complete package, not to mention save people the trouble of getting one for extra effort.

Finally, there is the looming change for the Stylus Pen. The Surface Pro 4 has a stylus in tow, although it remains on battery power. There are no rechargeable features that come with it so offering one that has such a benefit could be neat.

A patent being applied by Microsoft should make it clear that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 could likely come out with one, as mentioned on Patentlymobile.com.

That should satisfy certain issues aside from resolving possible problems like Stylus Pen loss or misplacement.
