There are many rumors surrounding the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. There are several speculated release dates, and the nearest is this fall.

Many Surface products were released in the month of October, except the Surface Pro, in February 2013, and the Surface Pro 3, in June 2014. However, the hardware and the software for the Surface Pro 5 are not ready yet, but they could be by next year.

It is highly speculated that Microsoft is waiting for Intel's Kaby Lake processor, which will be loaded with new features that will be favorable to the alleged Surface Pro 5. Aside from being faster and having better energy management, it will be able to offer a better display capability and the latest USB Type-C port, reports stated.

Another reason for the delay is said to be related to its operating system. In order to maximize the Kaby Lake processor, the Surface Pro 5 needs the latest operating system, and the Windows 10 update known as Redstone 2 will not be ready until next year.

Nevertheless, there are also speculations that the device may arrive this fall and will be unveiled at an upcoming media event. It is said to be arriving with the Surface Book 2, which contains several upgrades in its screen and physical design and several other new features, MNR Daily reported.

Additionally, the Surface Pro 5 is said to feature the first rechargeable Surface Pen, with its own dock built right in the tablet itself. This has been one of the oldest rumors since a patent discovery was made a few months back by Patently Mobile. According to the filing, the pen's button cell battery will be replaced by a rechargeable one, which is similar to the iPad Pro's Apple Pen, but would also have a dock where it will be charged up. This will also acts as its holder when not in use.

Concerning the price, the entry-level Surface Pro 4 has a US$899 price tag, while an all-in option will skyrocket it to more than US$2,000. It is speculated that the upcoming model may have a similar pricing scheme.

Fans can expect more news and rumors about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 in the months to come.
