The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is one of the most anticipated tech devices, and it is now speculated to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 that is set to happen in Barcelona, Spain in February. It is also rumored that the Surface Phone will also be revealed at the same event.

A source familiar with the matter claims that the upcoming Surface Phone will be released in February 2017, and this could possibly happen during MWC 2017 event. The community began speculating that the Surface Pro 5 could also share the spotlight during the event, according to NewsEveryday.

However, there are also speculations that it might not be the case. Microsoft has recently upgraded its Surface Pro 4 lineup and it seems that the next generation is still not set to arrive, reports Yibada.

It also added that from a marketing point of view, releasing a new generation of its hybrid tablet will also affect the sales of the recently upgraded hybrid laptop, dubbed as the Surface Book i7. Moreover, the Redmond-based tech giant will still need to push its new Surface Studio all-in-one desktop machine.

In terms of specs, if a Surface Pro 5 will arrive, it is speculated to retain its screen size, a 13.3-inch display screen, but is said to be offered with two different screen resolutions, 2K and 4K. Its battery is also expected to receive an upgrade to a higher capacity that could provide longer hours of use. The inclusion of the latest Intel Core Kaby Lake processor will also affect the battery performance of the device with its improved power efficiency.

The Surface Pen is also anticipated to be upgraded. Early in the year, Patently Mobile discovered a patent filed by Microsoft that will make its stylus a rechargeable one. The patent showed a mounting on the side of the tablet that will recharge the stylus when not in use. The current Surface Pen still contains a disposable battery. A USB Type-C port is also expected to come with the device and hopefully two of them.

Microsoft has not issued any statement for the rumored Surface Pro 5 or with the alleged Surface Phone.
